Many years ago I emerged from a womb filled with love
I was wanted and so adored, she says I was a happy little girl
Lying in my crib at night, or so she told me
A night owl looking at the stars and wondering at the universe
That came from her

I’ve always wondered at the world and everything within its realm
We’d talk for hours on the telephone
Parsing the human condition, curious as to why
Not always agreeing, but that was OK

But I know the good and decent way
