An Illusionary Mind
Taunted by an illusionary mind
Creative yet festering
Dreaming and imagining
Losing sight, losing control
Gaining wisdom, letting go
It’s perspective my friends tell me
I know it’s true
Cause it’s exactly what I tell other people
The challenge and ease of this
Lies in proportion
To the shifts of age
The body becoming something new
And the tapestry of experience
Promises it works out in the end
Different, perhaps challenging and maybe even wonderful
Sometimes frightening
Though the demons color this mind
And at times it’s almost paralyzing
But something persists, a re-awakening
Light shines through
Clarity emerges and hope arises
The truth of my wonderfulness
For a moment fills the universe
Even if only for just that moment
It’s a little but precious gift from God.
